Talent Management head analyses first team contribution from VCF Academy members

“We're always proud to see our young players gain experience with the first team”

For the third consecutive year, the VCF Academy has been included in the Top 10 of the best Academies in Europe, in a report by the CIES Football Observatory, ranked 6th in 2022. As ever, there have also been a series of players from the youth setup who have featured in preseason training this summer.

The head of the Talent Management department of the VCF Academy, David Fuster, spoke to VCF Media Radio about the performance of youth team players with Valencia CF in the past fortnight.

"There is a very good group of youth players and players with a lot of promise, and we have to try to make sure that they are ready, at any moment, to make that leap up to the first team," said Fuster.

Six players from the VCF Academy have made their official debuts in the last year, namely César Tárrega, Cristhian Mosquera, Rubén Iranzo, Javi Guerra and Jesús Santiago 'Yellu' and Mario Domínguez.

"For those of us who are part of the VCF Academy, it is always a source of pride to see our young players getting minutes and gaining experience with the first team," adds Fuster.

The creation of the Talent Management department is a move to work specifically with the players on an individual level, with personal monitoring and exercises for each of them.

“Our job is to advise them in the transition to professional football, helping them along the way in this vital process. In addition, we work on individual objectives with them in order to enhance their footballing development."
